Design for Custom Homes
With over 45 years of designing custom homes for our clients, we believe that the process of designing your dream home or cottage should be fun and engaging. We start by listening to your ideas and encourage you to create a wishlist, room by room. Include design features, how you plan to use the room and list any special pieces of furniture you want to incorporate in the room. Bring photos, magazines, Houzz ideabooks and anything else that will help us understand your vision and style. We will exchange ideas and offer suggestions to create a plan that fits your location, meets your budget and incorporates the aesthetic and practical needs for your home.
Once the design is under way we’ll meet every couple of weeks to review and discuss the design of your home. We encourage our clients to start the design process early so you have plenty of time in between meetings to consider all the options. At this early stage, it’s too early to start the bidding process, however, we will design around your targeted budget based on our experience and our conversations regarding your home’s amenities and features.
After perfecting the design, we will discuss your product and finishes selections and move to the formal bidding phase to make sure we’re on track with your budget expectations.
Design for Remodeling and Additions
The design process for a remodeling project or addition begins with an in-home site visit. At that meeting our goal is to gain an understanding of what you wish to accomplish for the project, inspect the existing architectural style and structural integrity of the home and get a feel for the flow of the home. We encourage clients to prepare a wish list for this meeting. Include the things you like and don't like about the current design of the home and any photos or Houzz ideabooks so we can gain a better understanding your ideas.
After the initial meeting we will prepare some concept drawings to give you some ideas for reconfiguring and updating interior spaces our enhancing curb appeal on the exterior. We will taking into consideration improving the flow of the home, maximizing views from the home, and blending the style of any improvements with the style of the original home to ensure that is s a natural extension of the existing space.
Once the design phase is complete, we will discuss your product and finishes selections and move to the formal bidding phase to make sure we’re on track with your budget expectations.
Working with with an Architect
While we design the majority of the homes we build, we can also work with and build from an architect's plan. We can work directly with the architect during the entire building process to address any concerns, plan changes or issues that may arise.
